Bianca

Bianca

Bianca plants, maintains, and harvests our crops. Her love of animals and insects has convinced us to start an honey bee apiary. She has enrolled in a bee keeping course later this year at algonquin college.

About the Farm

Earth, Water, Sun & Seeds.

Flowing Creek Farms, is a family operated farm located in Stittsville, Ontario.

We take great pride in growing excellent fruits & vegetables that are free from pesticides and herbicides of any kind.

GOURMET HARDNECK GARLIC

Gourmet Hardneck Garic

Enabling the Food Alchemist

From our farm to your kitchen, we provide three varieties of hardneck garlic grown in certified organic soil without the use of pesticides or herbicides.  If Mother Nature didn't create it, we don't use it.

We currently grow 6,000 to 8,000 heads of hardneck garlic. We offer three varieties: Porcelain (Music), Rocambole, and Purple Stripe.

We cure all our garlic for at least three weeks, in a dark, humidity controlled, and ventilated environment to ensure the longest storage life of our products (6 to 10 months). We also do not wash, scrub, or polish our garlic as this too significantly reduces storage life.

Custom Grown Produce

SEASONAL PRODUCE

In-season produce, sourced from standard food distribution companies, often travel thousands of kilometres from the operations of large commercial growers to their customers.  Many of these fruit and vegetables are often restricted to hybrid varieties and are harvested weeks before their optimal date to reduce spoilage during transportation and storage.

Chefs are becoming overwhelmingly supportive of the “buy local” and “farm-to-table” movements as they can taste the difference between fresh-picked over “tired” produce.

Flowing Creek Farms is small and dynamic family farm that believes in transparent farming processes. We intend to stay that way.  We grow specialty produce for local upscale chefs that are looking to distinguish themselves from their competition.

Bee Apiary

UNPASTERIZED HONEY

Flowing Creek Farms is actively preparing our farm for our honey bees, by overseeing grasslands with covers and wild flowers (native to Ontario).

We are scaling up our production up to about 400 Kg to 700 Kg per season.

Apple Orchard

SEASONAL FRUITS

Ever since I can remember, our family loves fresh apples.  Flowing Creek Farms will be initially planting 10 Honeycrisp and 10 Novamac apple trees.

HOPS

Hop Yard

Hops are the flowers of the hop plant used primarily as a flavouring and stability agent in beer to which they impart bitter, zesty, or citric flavours. The hop plant is a bine (not vine) that is trained to grow up strings in a field hop yard.  Flowing Creek Farms is currently performing a feasibility assessment on building a hop yard on a one acre south facing field. Currently we are looking at goring three varieties of hops.  Click on the images below for more information.
